Pattaya, Thailand – British entrepreneur Quentin Griffiths, co-founder of global online fashion retailer ASOS, has died after falling from a 17th-floor balcony at his apartment in the Thai seaside city of Pattaya, authorities confirmed.
Griffiths, 58, was found dead at the scene on February 9, 2026. Thai police said initial investigations suggest he took his own life, and there were no signs of foul play. CCTV footage reportedly showed no other individuals entering the apartment at the time of the incident. His body has been sent for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
The co-founder helped establish ASOS in London in 2000, growing the company into a leading online fashion retailer with a wide range of brands and fast-delivery service. Though he stepped down from executive roles in later years, Griffiths remained a key figure in the company’s history and continued to be recognized for his contributions to the global fashion industry.
The UK Foreign Office has confirmed it is supporting Griffiths’ family and liaising with Thai authorities following the tragic incident.
Police and local authorities in Pattaya continue their inquiries, with further details expected as investigations and post-mortem results are completed.
Griffiths’ passing has prompted tributes from colleagues and industry figures, highlighting his impact on online retail and fashion entrepreneurship.
