London, England (Mckoy’s News) — Tragedy has once again struck the family of 19-year-old Marcus Fakana, the British teen who made international headlines earlier this year after being jailed in Dubai for a teen romance — only to be freed by a royal pardon.
Just three months after returning home, Fakana is now dead following a deadly car crash in Tottenham, North London, early Friday morning, October 3, 2025.
Reports reaching Mckoy’s News are that the crash occurred shortly before 1:00 a.m., when police attempted to stop a vehicle of interest on Pretoria Road. The car reportedly sped off, and minutes later, it crashed violently on The Roundway, N17, leaving a scene of twisted metal and heartbreak.
Fakana, who was a passenger in the car, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital where he later succumbed.
Police say another man, identified as Marwaan Mohamed Huseen, has been charged with multiple offences, including causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a licence, and failing to stop.
The tragedy comes just months after Fakana’s release from a Dubai prison, where he served six months of a one-year sentence for having a relationship with a 17-year-old girl while on holiday — an act considered illegal under UAE law. His release followed a royal pardon issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in July.
Now, the young man who survived one of the world’s toughest prison systems has lost his life on the streets of his own city.
Family and friends are said to be devastated, calling the incident “a cruel twist of fate.”
The Metropolitan Police have launched a full investigation into the crash and the events that led up to it.
