St Catherine, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) — A deadly crash along the Hellshire main road in Portmore, St Catherine, early Saturday morning has left two persons dead — including a teenage boy — and several others nursing injuries.
The deceased have been identified as 17-year-old Ryan Tulloch, otherwise called “Dumpling,” of Tawes Meadows, Spanish Town, and Jevaughn Martin, otherwise called “Washie,” a well-known taxi operator from a Portmore address, both in St Catherine.
Reports reaching Mckoy’s News are that the crash occurred shortly after 3:00 a.m., approximately 100 metres south of the Greater Portmore entrance. The collision involved a white BMW motorcar and a grey Honda Fit Shuttle.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact was massive, sending debris flying across the roadway. The BMW reportedly slammed into a utility pole, causing a power outage in the surrounding areas.
Residents were jolted awake by the sound of the crash and rushed to the scene, where they found the wrecked vehicles and the victims trapped inside. Emergency responders were summoned, and the injured were transported to the Spanish Town Hospital for treatment.
Both Tulloch and Martin were pronounced dead on arrival.
Police investigators have since launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
The tragic incident has cast a shadow of grief over both Spanish Town and Portmore, as friends and family mourn the loss of the promising teenager and the popular taxi driver affectionately known as “Washie.”
