A 19-year-old man has been taken into police custody following the fatal stabbing of his father in Mountainside, St Elizabeth on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as 53-year-old Gary Allwood, a resident of Love Lane in the Mountainside community.
According to preliminary reports from investigators, the incident occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m. during a dispute between the father and son. The altercation reportedly escalated, during which both a knife and a pair of scissors were used to inflict injuries on Allwood.
He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police confirmed that Allwood’s son was subsequently apprehended and remains in custody as the primary suspect in the killing. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
