A man believed to be the bus conductor seen in a widely circulated video assaulting two female high school students in Kingston has been detained by police.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force confirmed that the individual is now assisting investigators after being handed over at the Kingston Central Police Station on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
Law enforcement officials reported that the suspect initially made contact with authorities and later presented himself at the Half Way Tree Police Station before being transferred to Kingston Central.
Preliminary findings suggest the man is the same person captured in the viral footage, which depicts a confrontation involving two schoolgirls aboard a public passenger vehicle. The incident has sparked widespread public concern.
Police say inquiries are still ongoing and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. Investigators emphasized that acts of violence—especially those involving minors—are treated with the highest level of seriousness.
The JCF is also reminding citizens to settle disputes through lawful means and to cooperate fully as the investigation continues.
