ST MARY, Jamaica – A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody after police found him in possession of an imitation firearm during a pre-dawn joint military operation on Saturday. The operation targeted several communities, including Boscobel, Retreat, Stewart Town, and Mango Valley.
Acting Superintendent of Police Anthony Wallace emphasized the importance of such operations in safeguarding communities and preventing youth involvement in crime.
“The arrest of the 15-year-old highlights the urgent need for continued police intervention and community support. We will remain relentless in our efforts to remove criminal influences from our communities and protect our young people from being drawn into illegal activities,” Wallace stated.
During the same operation, a 31-year-old man from Boscobel was arrested for possession of identity information, which authorities believe is linked to lottery scamming.
Law enforcement officials have reiterated their commitment to tackling criminal activities and have urged residents to report any suspicious behavior to help keep their communities safe.
