Teacher Fatally Shot After Being Lured to Spanish Town Address

St Catherine, Jamaica: Teacher Fatally Shot – A teacher was shot and killed by unknown assailants along March Pen Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Friday afternoon in what police believe may have been a targeted attack.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Roshane Beckford, otherwise known as “Pancho,” a teacher at Ascot High School in Portmore, St Catherine.

According to police reports, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Beckford received a telephone call informing him that a family member, believed to be his mother, was ill and needed his assistance.

Investigators say Beckford travelled to an address on March Pen Road in response to the call. Upon arriving, he was reportedly ambushed by unknown men who opened fire, hitting him multiple times.

The police were summoned to the scene, and Beckford was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The motive for the killing has not yet been established, and detectives assigned to the Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

The incident has left colleagues, students, and residents in shock as investigators work to determine who was responsible and what led to the deadly attack.
