Kingston, Jamaica: Man Killed in Kingston Central Gun Attack – 35-year-old man was shot and killed while two other persons were injured during a gun attack along Maiden Lane in Kingston Central on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Cornelio Richards of Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11. The injured victims are a 21-year-old man and a 79-year-old retiree.
Reports from the police indicate that at about 9:25 p.m., the three men were at a shop on Maiden Lane when they were approached by unknown gunmen who opened fire.
Richards sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. The two other victims were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
The attackers reportedly fled the area immediately after the shooting, and investigators have not yet established a motive for the attack.
Detectives assigned to the Kingston Central Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are currently conducting investigations into the incident.
The latest killing comes despite an overall reduction in murders within the Kingston Central Police Division. Police statistics show that up to June 7, the division recorded four murders, compared to nine during the corresponding period last year, representing a 56 per cent decrease in homicides.
