ST JAMES, Jamaica: Popular Fruit Vendor Shot Dead— A well-known fruit vendor was shot and killed in Montego Bay, St James, on Saturday night, leaving residents and fellow business operators in shock.
The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Kelvin Pyne, otherwise known as “Scarrie,” a resident of Orange in St James.
Reports indicate that Pyne was attacked at or near his fruit vending location. About 11:30 p.m., his body was discovered on Miriam Way in Montego Bay. He was found lying face down with multiple gunshot wounds.
Pyne was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting remain unclear, and investigators have not yet established a motive.
The killing has heightened concerns among residents and business operators about ongoing violence in the city.
The St James police have launched an investigation and are pursuing leads to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances that led to Pyne’s death.
