A 48-year-old taxi operator was shot and killed in Nain, St Elizabeth, on Wednesday afternoon, with police later fatally shooting one of two men suspected of carrying out the attack.
The deceased has been identified as Rohan Hill.
According to the St Elizabeth Police, Hill was transporting two men who had reportedly posed as passengers when he was attacked shortly after 5 p.m.
Following the killing, a team of police officers launched a search for the suspects and later located one of the men.
Police say the suspect challenged them, resulting in an exchange of gunfire during which he was fatally shot.
His identity has not yet been released.
The police are continuing their search for the second suspected accomplice.
Speaking with the news team on Wednesday evening, head of the St Elizabeth Police Division, Superintendent Coleridge Minto, confirmed that a search is underway for the alleged accomplice.
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain under investigation.
