Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) has announced that 4,171 Reverse Income Tax Credit (RITC) payments remain uncollected at remittance agencies. In a media release on Friday, TAJ urged eligible individuals to collect their payments by March 7, 2025, to prevent the funds from being returned to the Consolidated Fund, as mandated by law.
The RITC program, introduced in October 2024, provides a one-time payment of JMD 20,000 to individuals earning less than JMD 3 million annually. To date, approximately JMD 6.9 billion has been disbursed to 346,085 eligible recipients.
TAJ reminds taxpayers that to collect their payments, they must present a valid government-issued identification and the transaction number sent via text or email upon notification of disbursement readiness.
Although applications for the RITC have closed, individuals can still access the Reverse Income Tax Credit Hub on the TAJ portal at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm/ritc to track the status of their application or obtain information, including frequently asked questions. For additional support, applicants may contact TAJ at (888) TAX-BACK / (888) 829-2225 or via email at TaxBack@taj.gov.jm.
Final payments are scheduled for March 7, 2025.
