St. Thomas Contractor Charged in Alleged $950,000 Vehicle Fraud Case

A St. Thomas contractor has been formally charged following allegations that he misused funds intended for the purchase of a motor vehicle.

The accused, 46-year-old Richard Jones, otherwise called “Richie,” of Airy Castle District, was charged with fraudulent conversion in connection with an incident reported to have taken place between August 19 and October 10, 2025.

According to information from the Morant Bay Police, a complainant reportedly provided Jones with JMD 950,000 to secure a motor vehicle on her behalf. Investigators allege that after obtaining the vehicle, Jones did not deliver it as agreed but instead used it for his own personal purposes.

The matter was later reported to the authorities, and Jones was subsequently identified and positively pointed out during the investigation.

He is expected to appear before the Morant Bay Parish Court on Wednesday, May 20.
