St. Mary, Jamaica— Two teenage girls from St. Mary, who had been missing for more than three weeks, have been safely reunited with their families. The girls, aged 16 and 14, were reported missing in separate incidents but have since returned home.
The 16-year-old, a student of Oracabessa High School, was reported missing on July 31 after she was last seen at the St. Mary Parish Court. After seeing her name in a missing person report in the news, she contacted a family friend. The friend took her home, and her mother notified the police. During questioning, the teen revealed that she had been working as a live-in nanny at a property in the parish during her absence.
The second girl, a 14-year-old from Charles Town, was reported missing in August. She was eventually spotted at the Ocho Rios Health Centre, where the police were called. When questioned in the presence of her father, she refused to disclose where she had been during the time she was missing.
Both girls were examined at a hospital as a precautionary measure before being reunited with their families.
The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding their disappearances and are urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant in ensuring the safety and well-being of their children.
