St James: Taxi Operator Stabbed Passenger who Later Died at Hospital

St James, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – The Freeport Police in the parish of St James have reported that a man who was stabbed during an argument in Bogue Village, St James on last Sunday evening succumbs to injuries at the Cornwall Regional Hospital. A taxi operator is arrested in the stabbing incident.

In the meanwhile investigators have pointed out that the accused, who is identified to be a taxi operator has since been taken into custody in connection with the stabbing incident and is awaiting to be charged.

The deceased has been identified as Odane Miller, 24-year-old of a New Ramble, St James address.

Reports are that shortly after 6:00 p.m., on Sunday February 25, Miller and the accused man were travelling as passengers in a taxi motorcar from downtown Montego Bay to Bogue Village, when on reaching the section of the old train lines in Bogue Village, the accused asked for a stop and the driver complied.

It is further stated that upon alighting from the vehicle the accused refused from paying his fare, siting he was also a taxi operator.

An argument started between the driver and the accused taxi operator over the fare, during what time the accused allegedly use a piece of iron pipe to hit the driver.

Taxi Operator Stabbed Passenger: Miller who stood and witness what was taking place intervened and told the accused that he was wrong for behaving in that manner.The accused man reportedly brandished a knife which he used to stab Miller in the regions of his upper body.

The Freeport police were  alerted and upon arrival the wounded man was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.

The accused man was also taken into custody on wounding charges.

Miller succumb to injuries on February 28 and the charges against the accused moved up to murder.
