Police in St. James have reported a major development in the investigation surrounding the killing of 38-year-old hotel employee Kadene Beswick, whose body was discovered in Catherine Hall on May 1.
Investigators say Beswick was found suffering from multiple stab wounds at a house in the community shortly after 12:30 a.m. last Friday.
According to Area One Crime Officer Superintendent Jermaine Anglin, the case took a critical turn following the involvement of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s canine division. A police dog reportedly helped detectives uncover important evidence connected to the incident.
Among the items recovered were a weapon believed to have been used in the attack and clothing said to be linked to the accused.
Police confirmed that a suspect is now in custody and formal charges are expected to follow.
Superintendent Anglin noted that the successful use of specialised investigative resources reflects the police force’s continued commitment to solving serious crimes and bringing some measure of comfort to affected families.
