St Elizabeth Man Killed in Car Crash

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — A 27-year-old man died on Sunday morning after losing control of his car on the Braes River main road in St Elizabeth. The crash also resulted in a goat being killed.

The deceased has been identified as Devaugnie Samuels, a resident of Braes River.

According to police reports, at about 10:15 a.m., Samuels was driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla Axio when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a meter post. The impact caused the post to collapse, falling onto a goat and killing it. The car also overturned during the crash.

Samuels was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Statistics from the police show that as of early Sunday morning, 37 people had died in road crashes since the start of the year, compared to 46 during the same period in 2024.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
