St. Catherine, Jamaica – Sadeen Green, who pleaded guilty to the 2017 murder of 74-year-old Fitz Albert Barnes, was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday, April 10, 2025, in the St. Catherine Circuit Court. Justice Bertram Morrison ordered that Green serve 15 years before being eligible for parole.
The incident occurred on May 23, 2017, when Green visited Barnes’ residence on Young Street in Spanish Town. An altercation ensued, during which Green struck Barnes on the head with a hammer. Barnes’ body, found with multiple stab wounds and wrapped in a comforter, was discovered near his home.
In delivering the sentence, Justice Morrison stated that the aggravated circumstances of the case outweighed any mitigating factors, emphasizing the need for a sentence that would not shock the public.
Green, represented by attorney-at-law Althea Grant, had been in custody since her arrest following an investigation by the Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch. She pleaded guilty to murder on February 25, 2025.
