Clarendon, Jamaica – The community of Clarendon is on high alert as 13-year-old Zaynah Shaw, a grade-eight student at Glenmuir High School, has been missing since the early hours of Monday, April 7, 2025.
Her mother, Heidi-Ann Williams, reported that Zaynah was last seen at their family home on Sunday night. The following morning, Williams discovered her daughter’s room empty when she went to wake her for school. A search of the house and surrounding area yielded no clues.
Williams noted that Zaynah’s school uniform and book bag were still hanging on the clothesline, suggesting she had not prepared to leave for school. She believes her daughter may have gone outside to retrieve her clothes and encountered unforeseen circumstances.
Described as a bright and ambitious student, Zaynah had recently achieved excellent exam results and aspired to become an airline pilot.
The Clarendon police have launched an investigation into her disappearance. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or call the emergency number 119.
This case adds to the concerning statistics of missing children in Jamaica. Between 2016 and 2024, over 11,000 children were reported missing, with approximately 2,400 still unaccounted for.
The community continues to hope for Zaynah’s safe return.
