Commissioner of Police Dr Kevin Blake has commended the St Catherine North Police Division after it recorded zero murders in August.
Dr Blake made the commendation while speaking with members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force during a tour of Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Monday.
From January 1 to September 5, the division recorded 23 murders, compared with 65 during the corresponding period in 2025. This represents a 64 per cent decline.
Shootings have also fallen by 35 per cent, while break-ins declined by 53 per cent. Overall, major crimes in the division have dropped by 38 per cent.
Dr Blake attributed the zero-murder month to what he described as a strong policing strategy.
