ST ANDREW, Jamaica — A Cedar Valley resident has been handed a life sentence following his conviction on firearm-related charges in the Gun Court.
The man, identified as Iyan Guzmore of Red Hills, was sentenced on Friday, February 13, 2026, in connection with breaches of the Firearms Act dating back to 2023.
Court proceedings revealed that the charges arose from a police operation carried out by the St Andrew North Police in the Cyprus Hall area on November 14, 2023. For Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, he was sentenced to 19 years and nine months, with parole eligibility after 10 years. The sentences are to run concurrently.
