Paul Bogle Highway

Southern Coastal Highway Section Renamed Paul Bogle Highway

A major section of the Southern Coastal Highway in St. Thomas has officially been renamed the Paul Bogle Highway, in honour of one of Jamaica’s National Heroes and his lasting contribution to the nation’s history.

The newly designated 31.5-kilometre stretch extends from the Bull River Bridge to the Morant Bay Roundabout.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness said the renaming recognises Paul Bogle’s courageous fight for justice and represents Jamaica’s continued progress through modern infrastructure development.

The highway is a key component of the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project, which has significantly improved connectivity across southeastern Jamaica. The project has also enhanced road safety while creating new opportunities for tourism, commerce, and investment in the region.
