Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: A shopkeeper who hails from the parish of St Catherine was taken into custody on Sunday morning, May 13 and is now waiting to be charged, in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm at his shop in Brown’s Town Square.
The investigators pointed out that the name of the accused is being withheld pending further investigations.
The Point Hill police have reported that shortly after 1:00 a.m., a team of officers were carrying out routine patrols at a section of the community. On reaching a shop in Brown’s Town Square, the lawmen noticed that the establishment was opened at irregular hours. As a result, a search was carried out of persons within the establishment and also of the establishment itself.
During a search of the shop, a Glock 17 semi-automatic pistol loaded with (10) live 9 mm rounds was discovered hidden underneath the shop counter.
The accused was taken into custody in connection with the seizure.
