Kingston, Jamaica – Explosive testimony rocked the Home Circuit Court on Thursday as a former Kingston car wash supervisor recounted how Constable Noel Maitland allegedly paid her $2,000 to have a sofa cleaned in July 2022, just days after his girlfriend, social media personality Donnalee Donaldson, went missing.
The witness told the court that Maitland, who she pointed out in court, arrived in a silver high-end vehicle, while the sofa was transported separately in a pickup truck bearing a company logo. She said the furniture was dropped off between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. on July 13, 2022, and collected the following day.
Pressed during cross-examination, she admitted that sofa cleaning was not normally offered at the car wash, though she said she would not be surprised if it had been done.
The court also saw CCTV stills that the woman identified as showing the day Maitland delivered the sofa. Despite objections from King’s Counsel Larry Smith, the photographs were admitted into evidence.
Earlier in the trial, another car wash worker gave chilling testimony, recalling how she washed the same sofa and saw a “blood-like rice grain” substance seeping from it.
“I was so frightened. I said, ‘Jesus! Dis yah man must dead or him bleed out. Look like dem kill somebody inna it,’” the witness told the court.
She further testified that by the next day, the sofa was swarming with flies and the air reeked of a strong, raw odour.
Maitland is on trial for the murder and alleged unlawful disposal of Donaldson, who was last seen on July 11, 2022, when Maitland picked her up from her home. She last spoke with her family on July 12 and was reported missing the next day.
Two deliverymen have also testified, confirming that Maitland had the sofa moved twice — first from his Chelsea Manor apartment to the car wash, and later to an upholstery shop in downtown Kingston.
The trial will continue Monday in the Home Circuit Court, as the nation watches closely for more damning evidence.
