Fisherman Drowns After Boat Capsizes in St Elizabeth

St Elizabeth, Jamaica – Tragedy struck in Treasure Beach on Thursday when a 29-year-old fisherman, identified as Damian Davis of Cross Roads, Pedro Plains, drowned after his boat capsized in the Great Bay area.

Reports are that around 12:08 p.m., Davis was at sea when the vessel overturned. He reportedly got into difficulties in the water and was unable to make it back to safety.

His body was later pulled from the water and transported to the Black River Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The Pedro Plains police have since launched an investigation into the incident. A post-mortem report is being awaited to confirm the exact cause of death.

The Treasure Beach fishing community has been left shaken by the loss of one of their own.
