Jamaican singer Shenseea is not one to be confined by labels. In a recent interview with Spotify’s “Making It With Spotify” series, the versatile artist discussed her evolving sound and aspirations for global stardom.

Shenseea acknowledges the challenge of maintaining a signature style in an industry that craves novelty. “Artists these days, you do one style, they’re like ‘okay we know you for this style,’ but you have that style for too long, they’re like ‘okay now we’re bored,'” she explains. Embracing change and creativity, Shenseea suggests classifying her music as “dancehall pop” or “reggae pop,” reflecting her fusion of genres while staying authentic to her roots.
