Kingston, Jamaica – Jamaican artists Shenseea and Vybz Kartel have earned Grammy nominations in the Best Reggae Album category, placing them in contention for one of the music industry’s most prestigious awards. Shenseea’s album Never Gets Late Here and Vybz Kartel’s Party With Me are competing against three other notable entries: Collie Buddz’s Take It Easy, The Wailers’ Evolution, and the album Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired By the Film. This year’s nominations were announced on November 8, following the Grammy’s livestream event.
This nomination marks Shenseea’s debut Grammy recognition for her own album, though she had previously been credited for her work on Kanye West’s Donda. For Vybz Kartel, Party With Me represents a significant achievement, especially given the album’s release shortly after his recent release from prison.
The nomination has drawn excitement from fans, with both Shenseea and Vybz Kartel being celebrated for representing Jamaica on the world stage. The Grammy Awards, set for February 2, 2025, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, will feature the announcement of winners across various categories, including the reggae category, which has recognized Jamaica’s diverse musical talent over the years.
