KINGSTON, Jamaica — Several employees of the Kingston Container Terminal (KCT) are reportedly in custody following a major law enforcement operation at the facility on Friday.
The operation was carried out by the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) and the Jamaica Customs Agency, with support from the Specialised Operations Branch.
The operation comes days after authorities seized approximately J$1 billion worth of cocaine.
Investigators reportedly suspect that several employees may have been involved in an alleged smuggling syndicate operating at the terminal.
The detained employees remain in custody as law enforcement officials continue their investigations into the alleged smuggling operation.
The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been announced at this time.
