HANOVER, Jamaica — Police are investigating the shooting death of a 27-year-old man at his family home in the Barbican district of Hanover early Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Kemani Vernon, otherwise called “Tea Bag”, a labourer of Morris District in Lucea and Barbican, Hanover.
Reports from the police are that about 2:30 a.m., Vernon and several relatives were at home and in bed when armed men reportedly forced their way into a room occupied by him and opened fire.
Vernon was shot multiple times.
His relatives raised an alarm and contacted the police. On their arrival, Vernon was found inside the room in a pool of blood.
He was rushed to the Noel Holmes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives attached to the Sandy Bay Police say they have not yet established a motive for the killing. Investigations are ongoing.
