St Thomas, Jamaica – The St Thomas police have launched an investigation into the death of a senior citizen whose decomposing body was discovered in the Bottom Yard district on Thursday evening.
The deceased has been identified as 65-year-old Anthony Sherwood, a resident of the community.
Reports indicate that around 5:40 p.m., residents in a section of Bath known as Devil’s River alerted the police to a foul odor and the sighting of a body in nearby bushes. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers processed the scene and confirmed the discovery of Sherwood’s body in an advanced state of decomposition.
The body was removed from the scene and will undergo a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
The Morant Bay Criminal Investigation Branch is leading the probe, and investigators are urging anyone with information about Sherwood’s movements prior to his death to come forward.
