An elderly man is believed to have taken his own life by drinking pesticide at his home in Content district, St. Mary, on Saturday morning.
He has been identified as 74-year-old Fredrick Riggs of Content district in Retreat, St. Mary.
Reports indicate that around 9:00 AM, Riggs was at home with family members when he reportedly drank a substance alleged to be a poisonous pesticide.
Riggs was rushed to the Port Maria Hospital, where he was treated and admitted in critical condition, but succumbed shortly afterward.
The police are now awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
