ST THOMAS, Jamaica — A student of Seaforth High School was killed in a stabbing incident Monday afternoon after a dispute reportedly began on the school compound and later turned deadly in Morant Bay.
Police say the attack occurred between 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. near the Morant Bay Transport Centre, close to Teen Hub, a facility often used by students. The injured student was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital, where he was pronounced dead between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Commanding Officer for the St Thomas Division, Rohan Ritchie, said preliminary reports indicate the deceased and the main suspect, both students of the same institution, were involved in an earlier confrontation at school before the conflict continued off campus.
Investigators further reported that the suspected attacker allegedly bought a knife from a nearby establishment shortly before the fatal encounter. The weapon was then reportedly used during the confrontation.
Police have taken three suspects into custody in connection with the incident. Authorities said one male is believed to have carried out the stabbing, while two other individuals remain under questioning as investigations continue.
