A 34-year-old sales representative has been charged in connection with the alleged embezzlement of nearly $4 million from her employer, following the findings of an internal audit.
The accused, Lorian Hyde, of Glendale Avenue, Kingston 10, was formally charged with larceny as a servant, according to a police statement issued on Friday.
The charge stems from irregularities reportedly uncovered in customer account transactions between October 2023 and November 2024. The internal audit revealed that Hyde allegedly collected approximately $3.8 million from various clients but failed to remit the funds to her employer.
The matter was reported to the Half-Way Tree Police, prompting an investigation. Hyde was taken into custody on Tuesday and subsequently charged on Thursday following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of her attorney.
Further investigations are ongoing.
