The Government has extended the deadline for beneficiaries to redeem Phase 1 grants under the ROOFS programme to December 31, 2026, as recovery efforts continue following Hurricane Melissa.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Pearnel Charles Jr, says teams are taking the programme directly into communities to help beneficiaries access approved grants and resolve outstanding payment issues.
The extension gives eligible households additional time to redeem their grants as they work to repair and rebuild their homes.
According to Charles, thousands of Jamaicans have been identified for housing assistance, with relief and rebuilding efforts continuing across all 14 parishes.
He stressed that the Government’s objective is to ensure that every eligible Jamaican is reached during the recovery process.
