The search for a young man who ventured into the Rio Grande River in Portland with friends on April 28 has come to a sorrowful end.
Javaughn Abrahams, 29, was discovered lifeless by a passerby around 9:00 am on Tuesday. Abrahams, hailing from the Seaview Gardens community in Kingston, vanished beneath the river’s surface after plunging in.

Following his disappearance, a concerted effort was launched, and authorities were notified. Despite the relentless search efforts led by the deceased’s companions, aided by the Coast Guard, the turbulent river conditions brought about by heavy rainfall posed considerable challenges.
