Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Police Commissioner Clears Men Intercepted in Richard Ramdial Case: Police Commissioner George Quallo has revealed that two men who were intercepted shortly after last week’s murder of businessman Richard Ramdial on Ruthven Road in St. Andrew are not suspects in the case.
The Police High Command had launched a probe into reports that cops held the suspected killers of Mr. Ramdial but later released them.
The Police Commissioner say that the two men were again picked up on Tuesday, and the police are now fully satisfied that they were not involved in the killing.
“It’s just unfortunate that these two men were at this location and one of them actually run (sic) and jumped into the car, not because he had committed any offence but because he too was trying to get away from what was happening at the time,” the commissioner explained.
The men are employees “of a prominent institution… they were interviewed, the car searched… (and) are now giving statements to account for their whereabouts on the day in question,” he added.
Mr. Ramdial, a motor vehicle dealer, was driving his Mercedes Benz SUV when he was fatally shot by two men on Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators say it was a contract style killing.
The police commissioner is appealing to “any member of the public who has information that can help us to come forward and give us that information.
