Residents of St. James took to the streets early Tuesday morning, blocking several sections of the Sign to Adelphi main road to protest its deteriorating condition.
Using trees, debris, and other objects, protesters rendered most of the roadway impassable, leaving many commuters stranded or forced to seek alternative routes.
“This road has been in a terrible state for years, and nothing has been done. We are tired of empty promises,” said one resident who joined the protest.
The blockage has caused significant disruptions, particularly during the busy morning commute. Authorities, including the police and fire department, have been alerted and are working to address the situation.
The protest highlights longstanding frustrations in the area over poor infrastructure, with residents calling for urgent attention from local and national authorities.
