Lascelles Morgan, the man accused of abducting and murdering teacher Danielle Anglin, has died after being found hanging in his cell last week. Authorities have confirmed that Morgan succumbed to his injuries.
Anglin’s abduction sparked a high-profile manhunt led by detectives from the St. Catherine South Division’s Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB). Morgan was eventually apprehended during a targeted operation at a beach along Port Henderson Road in Portmore, carried out by the division’s Special Operations Unit.
The investigation, which involved forensic evidence, telecommunications analysis, and the use of canine units, led authorities to Anglin’s remains. Faced with overwhelming evidence, Morgan confessed to the murder. He was subsequently charged by Detective Sergeant Melonie Williams of the Proactive Investigation Unit.
Morgan, who had a previous conviction for sexual offenses, reportedly showed no remorse for the crime. His death leaves lingering questions about the circumstances surrounding his time in custody.
