Prominent Negril Hotelier ‘Dane ’Blushy’ Foote Dies at 94

Westmoreland, Jamaica: Dane ‘Blushy’ Foote, renowned hotelier and contractor, died peacefully on Wednesday morning at the age of 94. Foote, who operated the Foote Prints On The Sands Hotel in Negril and was the director of DR Foote Construction Limited, was responsible for constructing and maintaining numerous roads in Westmoreland and other parishes.

Foote’s son, Don, shared that he passed away at the home of his son, dental surgeon Dr. Andre Foote, in St. Andrew. Blushy was a dedicated supporter of various political parties but never sought political office himself.

An alumnus of The Manning’s School in Westmoreland, Blushy was active in the past students’ association and excelled in athletics, representing the school in track and field at Sabina Park.

Born in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, Blushy began his career with the Public Works Department before establishing his own construction company. Known for his generosity, he was a benefactor to many individuals and organizations in Westmoreland.

Blushy is remembered for encouraging his family and others to pursue education and work hard to achieve their goals. His legacy is cherished by his wife, Audrey Thomas-Foote, their five surviving children, and several grandchildren. One of his sons, Dane Foote Jr., predeceased him in 1987.
