Kingston, Jamaica – The legal fraternity is mourning the passing of prominent Attorney-at-law Norma Linton KC.
In a statement, the Advocates’ Association of Jamaica expressed its sincerest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and all those who were impacted by her life.
Linton, a founding member of the association and a former president, was called to the Jamaican Bar in 1971. She was also a former member of the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council and the Legal Aid Council.
Linton was a highly respected legal professional who appeared in numerous high-profile cases. Notably, she was a member of the legal team representing the accused persons in the murder of Grenadian Prime Minister Maurice Bishop
The Advocates’ Association highlighted Linton’s firm belief in the power of mentorship. They noted that she played a crucial role in guiding and influencing many young lawyers throughout her career.
Appointed a Notary Public in 1997, Linton KC received numerous accolades for her contributions to the legal profession. In 2010, she was honored by the Jamaican Bar Association, and in 2016, she was recognized by the Advocates’ Association for her outstanding contributions to the development of the law and the legal system in Jamaica.
Linton’s passing marks a significant loss for the legal community. Her legacy as a distinguished attorney, mentor, and advocate for justice will continue to inspire future generations of legal professionals.
