Westmoreland, Jamaica: 32-year-old Latchia Grant, a seven-months-pregnant mother of three, was shot and killed in front of her children on Sunday afternoon.
Grant, a chef at the Royalton Hotel in Negril, was sitting on her veranda with her three children when two men on a motorcycle arrived. After a brief exchange, the men opened fire, fatally wounding Grant. The attack occurred in full view of her children.
The gunmen fled the scene on the motorcycle. Police later recovered six 9mm spent shells from the crime scene. She was pronounced dead on the spot.
Neighbors described Grant as a hardworking mother who was deeply devoted to her children. “This is a tragedy beyond words,” said one resident. “Her children will forever be haunted by what they saw.”
Police have launched an investigation into the killing, but no motive has been established at this time.
