A 56-year-old Portland woman is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a church and stealing two speakers valued at approximately $80,000.
The accused has been identified as Jane Brown, a vendor from Stony Hill in Ranza. She has been charged with sacrilege and receiving stolen property.
Police said the incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, after a man locked and secured the church before leaving.
Upon returning, he reportedly discovered that an Imax speaker and a Blue-sonik speaker were missing.
The matter was reported to the Port Antonio police, who launched an investigation into the alleged theft.
Brown was later arrested and charged on Thursday, August 20, following a question-and-answer interview with investigators.
She is scheduled to appear before the court on Tuesday, September 29.
