Portland, Jamaica — Security forces in Portland have heightened their operations after a reported death threat was made against members of the police division by an alleged gang figure from Kingston.
The warning is said to have emerged in the wake of a police operation earlier this week that resulted in the fatal shooting of two suspected members of the Gully gang. Law enforcement officials have since increased the threat level in the parish to extreme.
Authorities are now seeking 39-year-old Marious Alanzo Davis, also known as “Bredda Dawg,” who is believed to be connected to several major crimes locally and overseas. Investigators say he has also played a significant role in past conflicts involving the Darksyde and Genasyde gangs.
Police sources indicate that Davis allegedly issued threats to retaliate against the constabulary following the deaths of two 21-year-old men, Troy McKenzie and Marlon Lewis. Both were reportedly from the Southside area of Parade Gardens in Kingston and were identified as senior members of the Gully gang.
The fatal shooting occurred during a targeted police operation in the Sherwood Forest community on Wednesday. According to reports, the operation was aimed at apprehending individuals linked to two murders recorded in Portland earlier this year—one in January and another on March 6. In the latter incident, Albert Lindsay was killed in the Anchovy Land Settlement, reportedly by a member of the same gang.
Investigators further revealed that Davis has allegedly been seen near the Port Antonio Police Station following the incident, heightening concerns among officers in the division.
Since the start of 2026, Portland has recorded two murders, both said to be connected to the Kingston-based gang. This places the parish among those with the lowest homicide figures so far this year, alongside St Andrew North.
“Bredda Dawg” is reportedly a well-known figure in central Kingston’s criminal network. During heightened gang conflicts in 2021, he was listed as a wanted individual by police amid violent clashes between the Darksyde and Genasyde factions. At that time, smaller groups aligned themselves into larger networks, with Davis said to have held a senior position within the expanded Darksyde group.
He has also been linked to several high-profile incidents, including a 2021 killing in Kingston. Law enforcement sources say Davis has been deported from the United States multiple times, with the most recent deportation taking place in 2025 after he was detained in Virginia.
Police say efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend Davis as they work to maintain order and prevent further violence in the parish.
