A popular barber was shot and killed by a lone gunman inside his barber shop at Compound in Central Village, St Catherine, on Sunday morning.
He has been identified as 53-year-old George Shaw, otherwise called ‘Johnny P’, a barber and security guard of Central Avenue in Central Village.
Reports are that around 10:00 am, Shaw, who also worked as a security officer at Halk Eye Security Company, was inside his barber shop in the Compound district when a black Toyota Voxy bus arrived at the scene.
A man posing as a customer exited the vehicle and entered the shop. He then brandished a handgun and opened fire at Shaw, who managed to run to the rear of the premises.
The gunman gave chase and opened fire again, hitting Shaw multiple times and killing him on the spot.
The gunman escaped in the waiting vehicle. The police were summoned, and upon arrival, they found Shaw suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
