WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is mourning the death of a 37-year-old police constable who died in a two-vehicle collision on the Farm Pen main road in Westmoreland early Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Constable Chadrick Cooke of Hertford district, Westmoreland.
According to the police, Cooke was driving a Nissan Wingroad towards Savanna-la-Mar at about 3:30 a.m. when a Toyota Noah travelling in the opposite direction allegedly failed to keep left and collided with his vehicle.
Cooke was trapped in the vehicle and had to be removed with assistance from members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade.
He was subsequently taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Constable Cooke last served at the Frome Police Station in Westmoreland.
The JCF High Command has expressed condolences to Cooke’s family, friends and colleagues. The force says its Chaplaincy Services Branch, Medical Services Branch and Welfare Branch are providing support to those affected by his death.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
