St. Catherine, Jamaica – The police in St. Catherine are on the hunt for a gunman who fatally shot a police trainee in Greater Portmore on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Rushane Nelson, a student constable who lived in the area.
Reports are that around 11:30 p.m., Nelson was seated in his Toyota Fielder motor car. He had just transported a relative to an event when a gunman approached and opened fire, hitting him in the upper body.
Nelson was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
At this time, the police have not identified a motive for the attack, and investigations are ongoing. The Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) is leading the probe as authorities seek to track down the assailant.
