An investigation has been launched into the killing of an unidentified man who was shot dead in the farming community of Amity Hall, St Catherine.
Detectives from the Old Harbour Criminal Investigation Branch are leading the probe after residents reported hearing loud explosions in the area around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Police were later alerted and responded to the scene at approximately 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a man believed to be in his early twenties. He was about five feet eight inches tall and was dressed in black pants and an orange shirt.
Initial examinations indicated that the man sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body. Investigators also observed masking tape around the neck. The circumstances surrounding the killing remain under investigation.
