A 25-year-old Westmoreland resident has been charged in connection with an alleged arson attack that destroyed a woman’s home in Grange Hill on Boxing Day last year.
The accused, Kimberly Wedderburn, also known as “Kim,” a domestic worker from Linton Pen in Grange Hill, has been charged with arson. Police say arrangements are being made for her to appear in court.
According to a report from the Savanna-la-Mar police, the incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025, along Belle Isle Road. Investigators said the complainant was at home with relatives and friends when an argument reportedly developed with Wedderburn.
Police allege that Wedderburn later left the premises, issuing a threat to set the house on fire. She was subsequently seen returning to the yard carrying a bottle, after which a sound resembling breaking glass was heard.
Moments later, the house was observed in flames. Police were alerted, and residents, assisted by workers from a nearby factory, attempted to put out the fire.
Despite those efforts, the dwelling and its contents, valued at more than $800,000, were completely destroyed. Following investigations and identification by a witness, Wedderburn was taken into custody and later charged.
