ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a woman’s body at a residence in the Innswood community on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old Maria Thompson. According to reports, law enforcement was alerted to the situation at approximately 9:30 p.m. after members of the public reported suspicious circumstances at the home.
Upon arrival, officers found Thompson’s body inside the house in an advanced state of decomposition. The area was subsequently secured and examined by investigators.
The body was later removed and taken for a post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing probe. The Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
