Authorities in St Elizabeth have heightened their alert as they continue the search for six-year-old Tau Kleio Rodriguez-Fairplay, who is believed to be in Jamaica.
The child, who is from London, England, resides at Gaywood Road in Walthamstow. She is described as being of fair complexion, medium build, and approximately 3 feet 6 inches tall. Tau was reported missing on Thursday, April 9, and was last seen wearing a pink coat decorated with butterflies.
Investigators attached to the Black River Police revealed that the young girl was brought to the island by a relative. However, details regarding her arrival date and her exact location within St Elizabeth remain unclear.
Reports from the Guardian last December indicated that Tau had previously been taken to Jamaica in February 2025 by her mother’s former spouse. Her mother, Samar Rodriguez, is a lecturer in human rights and gender at the London School of Economics.
According to the report, Tau had been living under a shared custody arrangement between Rodriguez and Athena Belle-Fairplay. Concerns arose when Belle-Fairplay allegedly failed to meet Rodriguez at a designated London train station for a scheduled handover of the child.
The Black River Police are appealing to members of the public who may have information on Tau’s whereabouts to contact them at 876-965-2232, dial 119, or visit the nearest police station.
