Hanover, Jamaica — Police are appealing to the public for help in locating an alleged kidnapper who escaped during a high-stakes rescue operation last Thursday, May 8, that left two of his accomplices dead and a female teacher safely recovered.
According to law enforcement officials, the teacher was abducted around 6:00 a.m. in Pell River, Hanover, by three armed men who forcibly removed her from her vehicle. Acting swiftly on intelligence, police teams tracked the suspects to a premises in Hanover later that same day, where the abducted woman was believed to be held.
A confrontation reportedly ensued between the suspects and the police. Two of the alleged abductors were fatally shot during the exchange, and two 9mm pistols were recovered from the scene. However, police believe a third suspect managed to escape and remains at large.
The deceased men have been identified as 21-year-old Kevin Gordon, also known as “Josh,” and 27-year-old Christopher Williams, otherwise called “Bubba,” both residents of Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland. Investigations revealed that Gordon was on bail for a murder charge dating back to September 2023.
Superintendent Andrew Nish, head of the Hanover Police Division, praised the efforts of the officers involved.
“This swift and decisive action underscores the commitment of the Jamaica Constabulary Force to ensuring the safety of our citizens,” Superintendent Nish said. “The seamless collaboration between the officers was instrumental in the successful rescue of the teacher and the disruption of this criminal act.”
Authorities are continuing the search for the escaped suspect and are urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact the National Intelligence Bureau at 811, Crime Stop at 311, or the nearest police station.
